A tribe of large tough Amazon women rule the land with an iron hand. They enslave the men and use them for their reproductive needs. Zeno is a warrior who is caught in a comprising position, which is forbidden with one of the Amazon women, he is enslaved and the women he was with is hung up and tortured. Zeno using his wits is able to escape and finds himself with a few of his warrior friends helping a small village of farmers. They train the unskilled farmers into warriors and lead them in to a showdown with the Amazons.

In 146 B. C. as the Roman legions lay siege to Carthage, Hiram (José Suárez), an exiled soldier-statesman, rescues a beautiful Roman, Fulvia (Anne Heywood), from a sacrificial altar. Hiram's enemy, the wily Phegor (Daniel Gélin), pursues them, but after a battle at sea, Hiram eludes Phegor and returns in secret to Carthage, where he learns that his beloved Ophir has been betrothed by her father to wed a young warrior, Tsour. Hiram abducts Ophir (Ilaria Occhini) and takes to sea once more. Phegor then captures Fulvia, whom he covets, and Hiram again tries to rescue her, but this time he is caught. Fulvia, in love with Hiram, arranges for his escape by promising to give herself to Phegor. As the Roman legions advance, Hiram appears before the grand council and volunteers to lead an army. Tsour (Terence Hill), sensing the sincerity of the offer, aligns himself with Hiram and joins him in going to meet the Romans, but they are unable to win the battle as Tsour is killed. Hiram flees with Ophir to the safety of his ship as the Romans enter Carthage. Fulvia seeks out Phegor, embraces him and drags him to his death in the flaming ruins of the city.

Several gladiators are called to aid in an attempt to overthrow a queen (Scilla Gabel) who protects the common people from the wrath of the nobles. But Maciste (Mark Forest) comes to the rescue to prevent this. Also with Dan Vadis.

Dan Vadis was to die under strange circumstances. On June 11th, 1987, in Lancaster, California, he was found dead in an automobile out in the desert. His death, apparently due to an accidental drug overdose, resulting from acute ethanol and heroin-morphine intoxication. He was survived by his wife Sharon Jessup.



The Conqueror Of Atlantis (1965) $20.00

Hercules (Kirk Morris) is washed ashore in Egypt and becomes involved in an adventure with some desert nomads, which leads him to a mysterious kingdom in the sand that turns out to be Atlantis. Here things take a surreal turn as Hercules battles a mad sorcerer, ray-guns and an army of blue-clad robotic warriors in a crescendo of action. Much of this films running time is taken up with Hercules slugging it out with the warriors in some entertaining fistfights, until his nomad friends arrive and enter the fray using evil looking metal balls attached to chains.

Italian sword and sorcery epic from splatter director Lucio Fulci loosely inspired from the Hercules mythos about two warriors on a quest and a vengeful demon who throws all kinds of nasty creatures along the way to fill scenes of gory violence. (For the first time in the U.S. uncut!)

This film comes from a rare widescreen import print in very good picture quality. It is currently the best English language version available anywhere and is also uncut.





David And Goliath (1978) $20.00
Ted Cassidy (Lurch, Bigfoot) is outstanding as the legendary Goliath of Gath in this Made-For-TV mini series entry.

This was to be Ted Cassidy's last screen apperance. Cassidy died on January 16th, 1979, from complications following open-heart surgery to remove a non-malignant tumor of the heart. Rumor has it, his live-in girlfriend had his remains cremated, then buried in the backyard of their Woodland Hills home.

This sword and sandal spectacle was directed by Jacques Tourneur of Val Lewton fame and features cinematography by Italian horror master, Mario Bava. Steve Reeves plays a courageous Greek hero whose muscle-bound heroics are the source of deadly frustration for the invading Persians. Plenty of excitement and adventure in what is considered one of Reeves's best films.
